NoteworthyNew RON map releaseWe have released an updated version of the regional optical network map. More information and downloads from the RON web pages. ACM Conference PaperANML Researcher Mark Meiss authored a paper (with IU faculty members Filippo Menczer, Alessandro Flammini, Alessandro Vespignani and IU visiting scientist Santo Fortunato, ) which will be published in the Proceedings of the First ACM International Conference of Web Search and Data Mining. ANML is Blogggggggddddd!Come visit our new blog, http://iu-anml.blogspot.com ! Here you'll find the (off-the-record, please!) freewheelin' ruminations, rumornations, and ruinations of ANML researchers on everything from lambdas to lesstif! International Workshop and Conference on Network ScienceMay 20 – 25, 2007 The second annual Network Science conference, held in Queens, NYC, brings together researchers in a variety of disciplines who share a common interest in the analysis of networks and their dynamics. (More event information is available here.) Study of Sampling Bias on Network StructureApril 2, 2007 The ANML is about to launch a study on how the mechanics of the packet sampling used to generate network flow data affect graph structures derived from that data. The results will be submitted for peer review and shared with the networking community. (Learn more about Netflow data here.) Numerical Analysis Module Software ReleaseMarch 23, 2007 The ANML has finished testing a data analysis module that implements an O(n log n) version of Kendall's τ, a statistic used for measuring the agreement between two ways of ranking objects. This code allows researchers to use the τ statistic to compare large distributions derived from network data. (Download soon available here.) Collaboration with Prof. Steven Johnson, Bryce Himebaugh and Caleb Hess, on the "E&RT Robotic Platform" (the golf cart).Spring 2007 ` The robotic golf cart has been developed at IU Computer Science Department as the teaching tool for the course P545, titled "Embedded & Real-Time Systems." This course is being offered for the first time (in this form) in the Spring semester of 2007. Students program the cart to perform various driving operations, with the final goal of autonomously traversing a course by following the GPS. There are plans to use the cart as a research platform in the more distant future. (More event information is available here.) IEEE Information Assurance workshop at West Point New YorkJune 15 – 17, 2005 "Towards a Third Generation Data Capture Architecture for Honeynets" was selected for the best paper award. (Download the PDF here) Network Security Software ReleaseMay 23, 2005Advanced Network Management Lab and HoneyNet Project release third generation of widely used network security software.
